MetaMask, the most popular Ethereum token and ERC20 token portfolio developed by ConsenSys, has released its mobile client on DevCon.

At DevCon, an important conference focused on Ethereum held in Prague, Czech Republic, hosted by major conglomerates and cryptanalute leaders including EY, Microsoft, ShapeShift, Santander, Blockfolio and Wanxiang, the MetaMask development team has officially released and on display the MetaMask mobile wallet.

Joseph Lubin, founder and CEO of ConsenSys, based in New York, the largest blockchain software company in the world with over 1,000 developers, shared the product version with the official user interface of MetaMask mobile.

Merit of a mobile client

MetaMask, launched at the beginning of 2016, has become the go-to portfolio for users of token Ethereum and ERC20, mainly due to its ability to handle various requests for decentralized applications (dApp) and its simple user interface that allows the transfer of ETHs and tokens launched on top of the Ethereum blockchain network.

For years, many MetaMask users have asked for a mobile wallet client, as the vast majority of Ethereum users have started relying on MetaMask as their main ETH and token portfolio. For over two years, MetaMask was only available to users in the form of a & rsquo; browser extension on Chrome, Brave and Firefox and was reserved for mobile users.

From the start of 2014, cryptocurrency users preferred mobile portfolios to Web-based portfolios due to various security benefits and advantages. As Joel Snyder, a senior IT consultant, a contributor to Samsung Insights, explains, the presence of a trusted execution environment (TEE) in smartphones allows devices to store data that can not be accessed by hackers.

"That's why smartphones have an advantage over laptops and desktops for cryptocurrency portfolios: without the benefits of hardware-based TEE, the keys are more vulnerable. There is a significant warning: a naive developer of portfolios may choose to simply store the keys in the normal internal memory of the phone, in which case there is little additional protection from using the smartphone platform. "

MetaMask is an unguarded portfolio that provides users with full control of their funds. But this also means that users must take full responsibility for their private keys and store them on the cloud or on public platforms may not be secure.

What MetaMask required so long

Similar to existing platforms such as Status, the newly released MetaMask mobile client has additional features. Rather than operating exclusively as an Ethereum portfolio, the mobile client can function as a dApp browser or a "Google Play Store for dApps".

On MetaMask mobile, users can run various dApps such as CryptoKitties by linking the wallet to the dApp to transparently process information on the main Ethereum network.

In the past, mobile app users have also downloaded and used apps similar to how Ethereum users use dApps now, either by directly downloading or accessing apps from the distributor.

The release of MetaMask Mobile will open a variety of dApp to a wider range of users of Ethereum, who had previously not used dApp due to lack of accessibility.
