The millionaire will build Blockchain Smart City in Nevada

A millionaire crypto is moving forward to build a huge intelligent city in Nevada, where Blockchain technology will drive all interactions.

Create a "new kind of activity" in the desert

To build this high-tech city, Jeffrey Berns, CEO of Blockchains, LLC bought 67,000 acres of desert land in northern Nevada for $ 170 million in 2018. The company explains that ownership has been acquired to create a new type of business and residential community.

The smart city will integrate the technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, according to Blockchains LLC,

The planned city will include, among other projects, a highly protected and highly technological park that combines blockchain technology with artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing and nanotechnology; residential units that will provide a new living environment by the thousands; and various financial, commercial and retail concepts that will benefit from emerging technologies.

Nathaniel Popper, in his The New York Times article entitled "A millionaire cryptocurrency wants to build a" utopia in Nevada ", describes how Berns imagines his dream community,

Imagine a kind of experimental community that extends for about one hundred square miles, where houses, schools, commercial districts and production studios will be built. The focus of this gigantic project will be the blockchain, a new type of database introduced by Bitcoin.

Local officials, eager for economic development, are in favor of the Bern project. Popper reports that last month, Berns joined a group with Brian Sandoval, Governor of Nevada, and Elon Musk, Tesla CEO. At the event, the governor read a proclamation that appoints the "Innovation Park" property of Blockchains, LLC.

The construction of the property will start at the end of 2019, as soon as the general plan is ready and approved by the county.

Blockchain to put the customer in control of energy creation

On November 1, 2018, as the beginning of what was planned for Innovation Park, Blockchains, LLC and NV Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding emphasizing their agreement to combine efforts on energy projects based on blockchain technology. According to a press release, "the shared vision of Blockchains and NV Energy will drive concepts that place the customer in control of the creation of energy, consumption, storage and transactions".

This project could be used to provide power to 1.3 million customers in Nevada. At the signing of the MoU, Berns declared,

These types of collaborative efforts, which return the power and control of customer transactions, are the very essence of blockchain technology. This partnership is just the beginning of what we have designed for Innovation Park.

Several initiatives are under way to build smart cities based on blockchain. What do you think of the plans for Innovation Park in Nevada? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
