Iran's Supreme Council of Cyberspace has announced that ministries within Iran are accepting the extraction of cryptocurrencies as a legal industry.
According to local news source IBENA, secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace Abolhassan Firouzabadi said that the policy of the National Cyberspace Center includes organization of cryptocurrencies. According to the Secretary, the Central Bank as a trustee in the currency area has a weight as a decision-making authority and will soon declare the framework and final strategies for cryptocurrency activities. This includes " trade and participation of startups and trade activists in the cryptocurrency sector".
The final implementations will be announced by the end of September.
According to IBENA, Firouzabadi also suggested that the promise of a national cryptocurrency is pending. He said that the national digital offering will be able to represent a tool for economic transactions with Iran's business partners and with friendly countries. This happens in the middle of financial stress due to US sanctions.
