The International Space Station marks the 20th anniversary

US astronaut Bill Shepherd and Russian cosmonauts Sergei Krikalev and Yuri Gidzenko left Kazakhstan on October 31, 2000, bound for the International Space Station (ISS). Two days later their Soyuz TM-31 spacecraft docked at the ISS. Since that day the station has been continuously occupied by a regular rotation of crews.
