The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that Korea’s gross domestic product (GDP) will be ranked 10th in the world this year.

According to the IMF’s “World Economic Outlook” report of 15, Korea’s GDP (in US dollars) this year is expected to be $ 1.58 trillion, the world’s tenth largest.

This is two places higher than last year’s 12th place.

Brazil and Russia, who were ahead of South Korea last year, are expected to finish in 12th and 11th place respectively this year.

Korea’s GDP entered 10th place in 2018, the most recent.

Korea finished 10th in a row in 2004 and 2005, then dropped from the top 10 until 2018.

Korea’s reclaiming in the top 10 this year is due to a relatively small impact of the global economic recession caused by the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

In its Economic Outlook Report, the IMF presented this year’s global economic growth rate at -4.4%.

By country, India (-10.3%), France (-9.8%), Germany (-6.0%), Italy (-10.6%), Spain (-12.8%), Japan ( -5.3%) and the United States (-4.3%), Russia (-4.1%), Brazil (-5.8%), Mexico (-9.0%), Saudi Arabia (-5, 4%) and South Africa (-8.0%) forecast negative growth.

South Korea’s growth rate (-1.9%) was also expected to be negative, but it is good with the exception of China (1.9%), which shows positive growth among the major countries.

The IMF has predicted that Korea’s GDP next year will also remain in 10th place with $ 1.674 billion.
