CUISINE – Some communities in southern Ontario woke up to fresh snow on Tuesday morning, and more should be on the way.
Strong north-westerly winds with gusts ranging from 30 to 50 km / h will persist, lining up on the warm waters of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay along with cold temperatures.
As of Tuesday at 1pm, snow flurry controls were in place in several areas including the Waterloo region, North Wellington County, Oxford and Brant counties, while Huron County was under a snow storm.

Under the blizzard bands, visibility will be significantly reduced. Blown and drifting snow is also likely in some areas, while buildup could occur quickly.
A lake effect belt is expected to intensify between Grand Bend and Port Albert, causing local snowfall amounts to fall between 10 and 20cm in 12 hours for some communities.
Temperatures will also be good in the Waterloo region, where windchill values could approach -10 degrees Celsius.
If you see the sun instead of snow, it’s not uncommon.
It is the power and uncertainty of the lake effect snow. Snow gusts can cause conditions to deteriorate rapidly and vary greatly. It is common to see a change from sun to snow within a few kilometers.
On Wednesday the winds will ease and conditions are expected to clear up. A warm-up is expected on Thursday and Friday, with rains likely at the weekend.
