Start-up Blockchain Gem plans to launch a complete platform that will allow users to track, archive, exchange and discover cryptocurrencies on a single app.
According to Gem – which has focused primarily on corporate products for companies such as Toyota and CapitalOne since its inception in 2013 – its all-in-one, user-friendly solution will "fill the gap" between experienced encryption users and newcomers In the sector. The platform was officially inaugurated on Thursday.
"Since the beginning of the company, we have tried to achieve a simple goal that is to push the decentralized forward movement to put more control and power in the hands of individuals," he told CEO of Gem, Micah Winkelspecht, adding:
"We felt at the moment in the market that we could get the biggest impact in the shorter timeline by going directly to the consumer to solve the problems we encounter in the cryptocurrency market."
The company intends that the portfolio component of its platform will act as a "single entry point" for the management of encrypted investments, initially integrated with 22 exchanges. Scheduled for the public beta release in May, it will also allow users to manually track tokens kept offline in their hardware portfolios.
The introduction of Gem's "universal token portfolio" will follow in the summer and offer users the ability to retain and exchange bitcoins, ethers and all ERC-20 tokens. The company intends to add support for other cryptocurrencies after the launch of the wallet.
Gem will also try to connect users with the broader community of crypts through its "discovery tool", which will provide information on 1,500 tokens and will act as a "gateway to the wider community of cryptocurrencies" through features such as social tools average.
The company states that it is engaged in ease of use and has used data from surveys of crypto-investors and "neophytes" to inform the platform's project.
"We are all investors of cryptocurrency in Gem," Winkelspecht told CoinDesk. "We are therefore aware of the market failings and we are excited to launch this platform to fill these gaps".
