The electronic giant HTC made history when it released HTC Dream, the first commercial device that used the Android operating system. Now, another decade later, it is ready with the world's first encrypted phone with a native blockchain network, known as Exodus. litecoin creator, Charlie Lee shared the news with the community stating that a fixed LTC 19.84 can be purchased.
Initially, it was reported that the Taiwan-based electronics company would have included Bitcoin support [BTC] and Ethereum [ETH] networks but later Litecoin [LTC] also joined the list. Charlie Lee has taken chirping to declare, "As announced today at @SlushHQ, you can now purchase the @htcexodus encrypted phone with Litecoin.Curring a fixed 19.84 LTC. #PayWithLitecoin #BigBrother #Bitcoin."
Phil Chen, HTC's "chief decentralized officer", revealed more about the new device on Wednesday at Slush 2018 in Helsinki. Even Charlie Lee appeared in the event.
While talking at the event, Chen said that HTC believes in an "open internet" and that we humans are going to connect. However, according to Chen, "All this movement has been hijacked". He said that the "new tyrannies" were the seven largest technological conglomerates in the world that had transformed the digital world into a new "feudal system".
"This thing that was open source has become a railway to possess all our digital identities, all our digital personal data and all our digital resources," he added. Chen added that this new phone will give users control of their private keys.
At the event, Charlie Lee later stated why it is important to have control over private keys. He said that security is a fundamental thing to solve. Many people store their coins on an online exchange or portfolio, but the problem is that users rely on third parties to secure the coins, he noted. Furthermore, news on exchanges and portfolios that are being violated are very common. So it is important that you can protect the coins yourself and do not rely on third parties.
