Coinbase Wallet, provided by Coinbase, the most important cryptocurrency in the United States, has launched support for Ethereum Classic (ETC), according to an official company blog published on November 27th.
Ethereum Classic is the result of a hard fork in 2016, deriving from the differences in the way of responding to the high-profile hack of the Ethereum blockchain (ETH).
The blog post today emphasizes that the Coinbase Wallet app should be updated in the "following days", after which users will be able to view, send and receive ETCs to their addresses. For existing Coinbase Wallet users, their ETC address will be identical to their current ETH address.
In addition to ETC, Coinbase Wallet supports storage, sending and receiving ETH and "100,000+ ERC20 tokens".
As previously reported, Coinbase announced for the first time that it would have traded Ethereum Classic on its trading platform in June, resulting in a sharp spike in the value of the asset. After opening the listing at the beginning of August, ETC was also incorporated into the Coinbase Index Fund.
Also in August, Bittrex added a US dollar-ETC trading pair, the same month that the crypto trading app announced its support for the asset.
At the time of the press, ETC ranked 17th in the ranking by market capitalization, and traded at $ 4.30, down nearly 8% on the day, according to CoinMarketCap.
