Joseph Lubin, co-founder of the major cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH), said he is "calling the 2018 criptobottom" in a Tweet December 21st.
According to Lubin, the background of the encrypted "is marked by an epic amount of fear, uncertainty and doubt", in particular by the industry media and social commentators, whom he calls "our friends in the 4th and crypto-5 ° property ".
Continuing in a thread on Twitter, the founder of the software company Ethenum focused on blockchain ConsenSys then contacted his companies that have recently reported major layoffs:
"ConsenSys remains healthy and is engaging in a rebalancing of priorities and activities started about nine months ago."
He said that Consensys continues to invest in projects – in its role as a blockchain and venture venture technology incubator – and to take on internal projects that "remain essential for our forward-looking business".
In the same wire, Lubin has complained of "an epic amount of conjecture and preventive paranoia" about "situations where journalists and bloggers do not have real data, real insights or understanding".
In conclusion, Lubin reiterated his optimism about the future of ConsenSys and Ethereum, stating:
"The sky is not falling, from my perspective the future looks very bright. […] peaking [sic] in 2019, if I could see the landscape through my eyes, you should wear shades. "
Reports emerged this week – citing sources familiar with the issue – that ConsenSys is running previously supported startups, some of which without financial support. The sources reported that the number of employees to be fired could be between 50 and 60 percent of the 1,200-person ConsenSys workforce.
Last week, Cointelegraph reported that, compared to more significant job cuts in various sectors globally, the current decline in cryptocurrency markets and the guarantee of job cuts in member companies seem relatively benign.
In September, the other co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, pointed out that there is no possibility that the cryptocurrency and blockchain space will see "a 1,000-fold increase" again.
