PHOENIX – The Blockchain Bitmain company announced Thursday that it intends to expand its presence at Chandler.

Bitmain, which produces blockchain hardware, software and services, will open an 8,000-square-foot office in the city park, the San Tan plant near Ray Road and the Price Freeway.

In a press release, the company cited the pool of engineering talent, residential growth and city history with the semiconductor industry as factors in its decision.

Bitmain currently employs 18 people at Chandler and plans to grow its staff in the East Valley suburb of 50% or more over the next year.

There are open positions in senior management, sales and finance, research and engineering.

"Arizona and Chandler have created a perfect environment for FinTech and Blockchain companies to grow and prosper and we are proud to welcome Bitmain to our community," said Mark Stewart in a press release.

Bitmain was founded in Beijing in 2013 and has offices in several countries.
