Glasgow residents could be treated early tomorrow morning for a minor lunar event known as the ‘Beaver Moon’ lunar eclipse – if the skies over the city cleared.
Tomorrow morning will see Earth’s faintest outer shadow move across November’s Beaver Moon, producing a deep penumbral lunar eclipse, according to the Time and Date website.
This means that about 82% of the face of the Moon will become darker during the maximum phase of this eclipse, which according to the time and date will occur in Glasgow at around 8:12 tomorrow morning.
Since the Moon will be near the horizon at this time, the website advises people in the city to go to a high point or find an unobstructed area with clear views to the northwest for the best view.
Moon setting will then occur five minutes later, when the combination of the very low moon and the total eclipse phase makes the Moon so dim that it may disappear from view some time before sunset.
Meanwhile, the Beaver Moon, named in reference to the time beavers build their winter dams in preparation for the cold season, is expected to peak at around 9:22 am.
