An archaeological area in Hama’s far eastern countryside in central Syria witnessed violent clashes, after midnight on Wednesday, between Syrian army units and cells affiliated with the “Isis” organization, which finally have started operating in the eastern desert of Hama, coming from the “Al-Tanf” area controlled by the US army in eastern Syria.

The Sputnik correspondent in Hama said the clashes resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of members of the organization, indicating that Syrian army units were conducting an overnight sifting operation for the area, specifically on the axis of the “Abu Fayyad” dam in the border of the Hama desert with the Abbey of Homs and Raqqa. The discovery of the ISIS headquarters in the region.

In turn, a source on the ground confirmed to the “Sputnik” correspondent that during the combing operation violent clashes broke out with the cells of the terrorist organization “Isis” (banned in Russia and several other countries), causing the death and wounding of over 40 militants and the destruction of two four-wheel drive cars that were in their possession, and the withdrawal of those that remained. From them towards the depths of the Homs desert, reporting that 11 members of the Syrian army went up during the clashes.

The archaeological area is located on the Hama / Raqqa road, east of the areas under its control and the militias loyal to it in the countryside of Raqqa, and north-west of the 55 km area controlled by the US military, which forms a semicircle surrounding the “Al-Tanf” area.

Interestingly, the Hama Desert witnessed during the last period of several incidents by cells belonging to the “ISIS” organization which attacked a number of villages and towns where people returned, killed more of 15 civilians and kidnapped 6 others and stole and burned the properties of civilians in this area, which prompted the Syrian army to bring more military reinforcements to the area and scour them for these cells that depend on supply lines in the deserts of Homs and Hama, reaching the area of ​​Tanf, in southern Syria, controlled by the US army and connected to large areas with the Syrian desert that extend to the countryside of Raqqa, Hama, Homs and Deir Ezzor.
