German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said relations with the United States will improve during the era of US President-elect Joe Biden, but that everything will be no different due to continuing disagreements with European partners.
Speaking at the Paris Peace Forum on Thursday, Maas expressed hope that Washington will take the lead in arms control and pressure on Russia and China, contrary to the current administration.
His French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, said he sees improvement in cooperation to contain the Covid-19 pandemic and tackle the issue of climate change, but reiterated what Maas said, that there are other complex issues that must be addressed quickly.
