The Chinese security company SlowMist said it could soon identify the initiators of the recent 51% attacks on Ethereum Classic (ETC).
In a January issue of Medium, SlowMist points to three wallet addresses and a hash of four transactions, due to which, presumably, a long attack was launched on the ETC blockchain. The company also confirmed the data published by Cryptographic Coinbase.
Both companies claimed that as a result of the attacks started on January 5 at 7:58 pm UT, there was a double expense. According to SlowMist, seven transactions were withdrawn from the network for an amount of 54,200 ETCs (almost $ 270,000). SlowMist also reported that the attacks have already stopped and the last one was recorded at 4:30 UT on January 8th.
In addition, SlowMist said it is trying to find out exactly where the identified addresses are, "if the exchanges are ready to provide relevant assistance". In particular, according to the company, they can be exchanges such as Gate.io, Bitrue and Binance.
Exchange Gate.io and Bitrue have already released public statements on Twitter on double spending on their exchange platforms, of 40,000 ETCs and 13,000 ETCs respectively. The developers of Ethereum Classic also work closely with the SlowMist team to determine the initiators of these attacks.
