The Greater Toronto Area can expect to see a “significant amount” of snow starting Sunday morning, says Environment Canada.

The Federal Meteorological Agency said in a special weather statement Saturday that the region could expect to see five to ten inches of snow.

Snow will likely decrease overnight until Monday.

“The trip is expected to be impacted by moderate to heavy snow,” they said. “Motorists should be prepared for the driving conditions of the winter weather.”

Environment Canada said the snow is the result of a “Colorado Low” that will extend from Ohio and into the St. Lawrence River area Sunday through Monday.

“There is still some uncertainty in driving the model with regards to the exact track of the low and the heaviest snow axis,” they said. “We will continue to monitor the situation and update special weather declarations as more recent data becomes available.”
