Great whites are among the 400 largest and deadliest shark species.
Together with tiger sharks and bull sharks, they form the so-called Big Three and are responsible for the greatest number of attacks on humans.
According to the Florida Museum of Natural History, the three species are large enough to inflict “serious injuries” thanks to their razor-sharp teeth.
The museum said: “The white shark has been credited with more fatal attacks on humans than any other shark species.
“This is mainly due to its size, potency and eating behavior.”
