In a nightmare-like scenario, archaeologists have found remains of a man-sized penguin on the coast of New Zealand.

Fossil hunters found fragments of a fossil encased in a rock Hampden Beach in Otago, with remains suggesting that the penguin stood at a whopping 1.77m and weighed around 100kg.

Yes, you read that right: a hundred kilos, a 5 “8 tall penguin.

The fossil is reportedly around 50-60 million years old.

“Most likely it would have been even thinner and not that cute,” she said Gerald Mayrat the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum in Frankfurt.

“He is one of the tallest penguins that have ever been found.”

For reference, the emperor penguin is the tallest donor penguin in the world at 1.22m.
