REGINA – Another resident of Saskatchewan died after testing positive for COVID-19.
The province said the person, in the 80+ age group, came from the northwest area. This is the province’s forty-fifth death related to COVID-19.
Saskatchewan also reported 197 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing active cases to 3,322.
In a statement, the government said six new cases are in the north-west area, four come from the north-east area, five from the north-west area, 17 from the north-central area, five from the north-east area, 56 come from Saskatoon, one from the central-west area, five from the central-east area, 73 from Regina, 16 from the south-west area, five from the central-south area and two from the south-east area.
Two new cases are also awaiting information on residency. Five cases were assigned that were awaiting residence information, including four in the north-central area and one in the north-west area.
The seven-day average of new cases in Saskatchewan is 234, or 19.3 new cases per 100,000 population.
The province currently has 106 people in hospital linked to COVID-19, including 88 in hospitalization and 18 in intensive care.
On Saturday another 137 people were cured of the virus.
