There may be another name that unites HTC and Sirin Labs as blockchain smartphone manufacturers, and is one of the world's largest handset makers, Samsung.
Earlier this week, Samsung unveiled three European trademark applications for blockchain-based smartphone capabilities identified by Galaxy Club. The three brands are called "Blockchain KeyStore", "Blockchain key box" and "Blockchain Core" ".
These names leave very little to the imagination. Trademarks are potentially allusive to forms of private or public key storage. Perhaps Samsung is working on a form of hardware portfolio to be integrated into its future devices.
Indeed, the trademark documents state that the marks apply to "Smartphone; Software applications for use with mobile devices; Computer software platforms; Application Software"
Unfortunately, since these are trademark applications and not patents, the documents do not go into more detail. We will have to wait to see exactly how these brands are brought back to life.
It would seem that Samsung is well aware of the need to safely store cryptocurrency and blockchain encryption keys.
At the start of this year, Samsung claimed that its smartphones had the best security for storing cryptocurrency. Of course, several industry experts have not agreed, but now it seems that Samsung is willing to take advantage of the features of its current devices.
