The South Australian government hopes to forge its "blockchain capital" position in Australia through a new $ 100,000 challenge for entrepreneurs.
On Wednesday, he launched the blockchain innovation challenge, inviting residents of South Australia (or those willing to relocate) to launch ideas that solve problems using blockchain.
The government hopes to use competition as a means to attract blockchain businesses and make the state the "blockchain capital" of Australia.
"The South Australian government recognizes this potential and is working to create the right environment to make blockchain businesses thrive," he said.
It calls for "well-considered projects" that fulfill the promise of benefiting from the state by improving "operational efficiency, enabling innovation of the business model or influencing the way companies, government and society interact".
The ideas that "push the boundaries of the blockchain" will be examined by a jury of experts, with the finalists to be invited to further develop their ideas through an incubation period in March 2019.
During this incubation program the finalists will receive mentoring and support to develop and refine their ideas before presenting them to the Global Blockchain ADC Summit in Adelaide.
The best ideas will be rewarded with "a prize pool of $ 100,000" to further develop their concepts.
Enrollments to the challenge close on 4 February 2019, with the finalists to be announced in mid-February 2019.
