Jakarta: Apartment residents (rusun) in DKI Jakarta are encouraged to develop hydroponic gardens. Gardening vegetables can be eaten on their own or sold to boost residents’ income during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This may be a business opportunity for apartment residents to develop hydroponic elaborate products,” DKI Bank Corporate Secretary Herry Djufraini said in a written statement on Sunday 29 November 2020.
His group is providing assistance to the residents of the apartment in Jakarta. For example in Pondok Bambu Flat, East Jakarta. The residents were provided with plant seeds, greenhouses, planting means, education and assistance.

Herry said developing hydroponic gardens is also a solution for the limited green space in DKI. Without much land, residents can plant vegetables and vines they can produce.
“The hydroponics that has been established in the Pondok Bambu apartment should be a trigger for the residents to become hydroponic horticultural entrepreneurs,” Herry said.

The start of a hydroponic garden in Pondok Bambu is another Bank DKI program. Herry said similar support was provided to the Jatinegara apartment in 2017. In addition, the DKI bank supplied hydroponic garden equipment to the KS Tubun, Pesakih, Daan Mogot, Semper and Jati Rawasari apartments in 2019.
