Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Verchinen said the UN envoy to Syria, Mr. Pederson, will visit Moscow on January 21, adding that Moscow hopes to hear its ideas to implement the decisions of the political solution in Syria.
"We are really planning to hold a meeting with the UN special envoy in Syria, Baderson, on January 21 in Moscow," said Varshenin.
"This will be his first visit to Moscow, so we expect him to tell us his vision of how to implement UN resolutions and seek a political solution in Syria," he said.
Since becoming the new UN envoy to Syria, Pederson has traveled to the Syrian settlement country to discuss his prospects, make an official visit to Riyadh on Friday and then travel to Turkey.
