A major player in the C-class sedan segment, Renault Megane, has received a mid-life overhaul, which brings minor improvements, both aesthetically and functionally.

Renault Megane Sedan is one of the veterans of this class, both in Europe and in the rest of the markets where it is present. Although competition in this segment, dominated by the Skoda Octavia, has intensified over the past decade, mainly due to Asian brands, Megane has remained a major player.

Made in Turkey, with better production costs than some competitors, the Megane Sedan remains one of the more comfortable but more expensive alternatives to mid-range sedans. It should be noted that this body has been withdrawn from Western markets due to declining customer interest, as it is currently only sold in 12 EU Member States, namely Eastern Europe, Portugal, Baltic States and other countries. nine neighboring countries to Europe (North Africa, Turkey, Middle East, Ukraine).

The design changes are discreet, as is the case with most restylings, copying what happened with the sedan. Renault has introduced, in correspondence with the optical blocks, the 100% Pure Vision LED technology, at the same time the bar and the front grille have been redesigned, and air diffusers have been positioned on the wings, for better aerodynamics. An advantage is the lighting in the area of the door handles.

Inside, the biggest gain comes from the new multimedia display, which can reach 10 inches and can be integrated with a second 9.3-inch screen, vertically.

New safety systems have been introduced in the assistance chapter: adaptive cruise control, with stop & go function, AEBS emergency braking, which now also detects pedestrians, rear traffic alert, which works both when approaching and walking backwards. These are in addition to the other existing ones, Lane Departure Warning, Somnolence and Blind Spot Warning.

In terms of engines, the novelty is the 116 HP 1.0 TCe, with manual gearbox, which is added to the old 1.3 TCe and 1.5 dCi. A major absence, compared to the sedan restyling introduced earlier this year, is the plug-in hybrid engine, of which Renault says absolutely nothing in the case of the sedan, the specific sedan markets are obviously unprepared to pay the price for this engine cutting edge. .
