Remove documents, vases, I am injured in non-life insurance … Why do doctors oppose “simplification”?

It would be convenient in many ways if the hospital directly applied for liability insurance, without the hassle of preparing various documents.

These bills were debated in the National Assembly, but were defeated due to opposition from the medical community.

If politics is particularly in the medical world, especially doctors, what is the reason for abandoning politics, I ask myself once again.

This is reporter Noh Kyung-jin.

Ham Seung-i who sprained his leg long ago.

When I removed the papers to apply for non-life insurance, there were more than ten sheets.

[함승이/실손보험 가입자]“Two sheets, a receipt, two detailed bank statements …”

Documents removed in this way must be submitted by visiting the agency in person or by taking photos individually.

As it is annoying, there are many cases where the bill is not required at all when medical bills are low.

[김연홍/실손보험 가입자]“We are also very uncomfortable. There are many times when we don’t charge small amounts.”

Insurance companies are also burdensome.

This is because received documents have to be manually entered into the computer.

For this reason, consumer organizations and the insurance industry have called for the system to be changed so that hospitals can request insurance money directly through computerization.

[김봉진/손보협회 장기보상팀장]“With the recent development of IT technology, financial services continue to improve convenience.

Legislative debates in the National Assembly have also flared up.

With legislation being proposed not only by the ruling party but also by the opposition party, there was a great expectation that this time around it would be possible to apply for hospital insurance.

[고용진/국회 정무위원(더불어민주당)]“Since this law must be passed, citizens can conveniently apply for civil liability insurance …”

[윤창현/국회 정무위원(국민의힘)]“It is very important to increase people’s comfort …”

However, the bill was processed.

While the medical association released a statement and foreshadowed the fight to block the bill, President Choi Choi visited members of the National Assembly’s political committee and opposed it.

It has been argued that if the bill were managed, the work of hospitals and clinics would become heavy and personal medical information could leak, but civic groups have different opinions.

This is because if hospitals and clinics directly apply for non-life insurance, excess income or medical treatment that has been hidden in the computer network of the Health Insurance Review and Evaluation Service could be exposed.

[조연행/금융소비자연맹 대표]“What the medical community is opposed to is because they fear that their overdose or unpaid income will be exposed if the transparency of the unpaid portion is strengthened, which is considered an action against the interests of consumers.”

As the wishes of consumers and industry have again been thwarted, the law to simplify damage claims could be discussed as early as two years after the change in the standing committee’s mandate.
