When we saw information over the weekend that Pakistani Rayyan Air was purchasing a leased Boeing 777 from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), we immediately thought it would be confusing. There were no others.
As if in a “cordless phone” phenomenon, shortly thereafter, various media specialized or not in aviation, including from Brazil, began to replicate the information that Ryanair, a company almost of the same name, but much better known, would be a true freight contractor .

How it was born
The news was initially spread in various Pakistani media outlets, such as Pakistan Today, which claimed that the charter company Rayyan Air would lease a Boeing 777 PIA as part of an agreement to operate cargo flights between Islamabad and China over four months.
Despite being a certified carrier, licensed to operate passenger and cargo charter flights, Rayyan Air has an outdated website and currently does not operate any aircraft and this may have caused confusion; it could also have happened that some reporters thought that the Pakistani press had misspelled the company name.
The fact is that the passenger of the Boeing 777 is already adapted to the transport of goods between Pakistan and China. It has a capacity of 52 tons and should take nuts, including pine nuts and others.
Speaking AryNews, PIA said strategic partnerships like this aim to benefit from each other’s experiences and share resources at a time when most planes are still parked.
In the past, Rayyan Air has operated Boeing 747s and Airbus A310s, again on charter flights. A curiosity is that the company stopped operating a couple of years ago, after the United States imposed sanctions on it for allegedly suspicious flights to and from Syria.
