A staff member at a second McDonald’s in Kingston tested positive for COVID-19. This comes a day after the Kingston McDonald’s downtown location on Princess Street identified two positive cases of the virus.
On November 13, a McDonald’s employee located at 705 Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard in Kingston reported testing positive for COVID-19, according to a McDonald’s Canada statement dated Friday, November 13, 2020.
Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to immediately close the restaurant for thorough cleaning and sanitation by a certified third party, according to the press release. McDonald’s says they are working to ensure they reopen safely.
According to the release, all crew members who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to quarantine until further information is available. McDonald’s says the employee worked the last shift on November 10 from 10pm to 2.15am

McDonald’s says it has increased security measures to ensure that every part of the McDonald’s experience is safe for guests and employees. These measures include:
- High-contact surfaces and guest tables will be kept clean and disinfected
- Placeholder to help guests keep their distance from each other
- The front desks are equipped with protective screens
- Clearly marked tables for dining to respect physical distances
- The number of guests allowed inside a restaurant at one time will be limited based on the size of the restaurant. This also applies to the outdoor seating
- Contactless payment options are available at the restaurant, and guests can also order using the McDonalds mobile app and pay on their phone
In the statement McDonald’s states that maintaining the health and well-being of their crew and guests is their top priority and they will continue to monitor and adapt measures as necessary.
