Opera (NASDAQ: OPRA) has announced the launch of its new browser for Android that allows support for blockchain, cryptographic portfolio and Web 3 support.
The company announced the launch of the browser with Web 3 that allows easy access to "the Internet of tomorrow".
As quoted in the press release:
"We are empowering Android smartphone users with an innovative browser that gives them the opportunity to experience Web 3 transparently", said Krystian Kolondra, Opera's EVP Browsers. "I would like to invite all technology fans who may have heard of blockchain, but we have not yet experimented with them to try out our new browser and Web 3. We have made it extremely easy, our hope is that this transition will speed up the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to be used for payments and actual transactions in the daily lives of our users ".
Web 3 is the internet of the future
Web 3 is a generic term for a set of emerging technologies that intersect cryptocurrencies, blockchains and distributed systems that, together, extend the capabilities of the web that we all today use in important and meaningful ways.
Opera believes that today's network will be the interface for tomorrow's decentralized network (Web 3). With an embedded cryptographic portfolio, the browser has the potential to renew and extend its important role as a tool to access information, perform online transactions and manage users' online identity in a way that allows them greater control.
Bringing cryptocurrencies and Web 3 to the mainstream
Web 3 still faces many challenges before reaching wider adoption. These barriers range from the users' understanding of the new terminology, the difficulties in the acquisition of cryptocurrency and the complicated installation procedures.
People, however, are more likely to adopt new solutions if they are user-friendly and seamless. With this version, Opera provides exactly this tool with the hope that the integration of Web 3 next to the current Web will make the technology more widespread.
"Until now, using online cryptocurrencies and accessing Web 3 required special apps or extensions, making it difficult for people to even try it. Our new browser removes friction ", said Charles Hamel, Product Manager of Opera Crypto.
