Opera launches Cryptocurrency Wallet in its Android browser

Good news for Android users: the Opera browser version has been released with a cryptocurrency portfolio. The company announced the news at a blockchain event in London. The wallet will first support only Ethereum, but support for other cryptocurrencies will probably be added later.

At the beginning of this year, Opera had already announced that it would release a browser version with a cryptocurrency portfolio. Soon after, Opera released the beta version of this version of Android in July. Since last month, desktop versions with the Ethereum portfolio were already available.

Unfortunately for iOS users, only the Android version is currently available with the integrated Ethereum portfolio. In addition, the Opera Cryptocurrency wallet supports only Ethereum at launch, but Opera plans to support other cryptocurrencies in the future.

Opera has stated the following on the Ethereum support:

"We decided to support Ethereum, because it has the largest developer community that builds Dapps and has accumulated a lot of momentum," said Charles Hamel, product manager for Opera Crypto.

The browser also supports Ethereum DApps and web3 api. It will allow users to perform online transactions and securely store their digital tokens within the browser itself.

Users can start with the cryptocurrency portfolio by downloading the latest version of the Opera for Android browser. After this, users are ready to go. Watch the video below for a nice introduction:
