26 November 2020 – Google now allows iOS users to edit Microsoft Office documents in Google Workspace.

Google announced in a blog post that users of Apple’s iOS operating system can now not only open Microsoft Office documents in Google Workspace, but also edit them. The new feature, already available in the web and Android version of Google Workspace, has been implemented in iOS for Google Docs, Sheets and Slides.

IOS users can now edit and comment on Office documents in the corresponding Google apps and work on them with other people. This means that Office documents no longer need to be converted for Google Workspace. In addition to editing files, according to Google, sharing options have also been improved to make it easier to share documents. The new Google Workspace for iOS feature will replace Quickoffice, because this feature, also called Office Compatibility Mode, has limited functionality compared to the new features. (luc)
