No children with COVID-19 have died in Hamilton.

A provincial database of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases incorrectly reported the death of a girl under the age of 20 on Tuesday.

“There was a data entry error by the local public health unit that led to a death under the age of 19,” Alexandra Hilkene, spokeswoman for health minister Christine Elliott said in a statement. . “The individual has recovered and this will be corrected.”

Ontario had only one child, who died of COVID, of a Toronto girl under the age of 20 in late June. At the time, Toronto Public Health reported that there was another unspecified cause. The death was investigated by Ontario’s chief medical examiner.
