On Saturday, Niagara Region Public Health reported 29 new cases of COVID-19.
At noon, the health department reported that the region has a total of 1,805 cases of the virus, up from 1,776 on Friday.
There are 233 active cases, down from 247 on Friday, while 1,494 cases have been resolved, up from 1,451 on Friday.
At least 78 people have died in Niagara while infected with COVID-19. This does not mean that the virus was the cause of death. Public health updates death data on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
There are 14 active outbreaks of the virus – the same as on Friday, while 63 outbreaks have been declared resolved, up from 62 on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ontario reported yet another single-day record for new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, recording 1,581 new diagnoses and 20 new deaths from the virus.
The province said it had conducted 44,837 tests since the last daily report.
In total, 502 people are hospitalized in Ontario due to COVID-19, including 107 in intensive care.
The province said 66 people are on ventilators in the hospital.
The latest figures bring the total of COVID-19 cases in Ontario to 92,761, with 3,332 deaths and 77,241 cases resolved.
