A dedicated young nurse spoke about the moment when she realized her car had been stolen after finishing a grueling 12-hour night shift in the emergency room to treat coronavirus patients.
Tekesha Phillips was looking forward to a hot shower and sleep after her shift at Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital when she saw criminals had targeted her Ford Fiesta Zetec.
The 22-year-old had spent a long night wearing full PPE during the closure of Covid-19 and when she returned to Winsome Green’s residential street her car was missing overnight, BirminghamLive reports.
It was only when he saw shattered glass on the sidewalk and an empty space where his car was parked that he realized it had been stolen, leaving it stranded miles from his home.
He said, “I walked up and down the street questioning myself, thinking I was tired after the night shift.

“Then I noticed glass on the floor where my car was parked.
“I had 3% battery left because I didn’t have the opportunity to charge the phone during the shift and I was practically stuck.”
Fortunately, a fellow nurse saw Tekesha in a state of “confusion and distress” and gave her a ride home.
She continued: “Instead of doing what anyone would want to do after such a long and exhausting shift, I was forced to make several phone calls to the police, insurance and other services in case the thief was using the car for business. criminals “.

Tekesha has launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise money for a new car as it fears that using public transport could pose a safety risk during the pandemic.
West Midlands Police are investigating the theft.

Nurse Faye Hatcliffe suffered the theft of her black BMW outside Queen Elizabeth Hospital on November 19th.
Three days earlier NHS housekeeper Edyta Tomczak was also a victim outside the same hospital in Selly Oak when thieves stole her £ 270 bicycle.
Earlier this year, another Heartlands Hospital emergency room nurse revealed she felt “violated” after her car was stripped of its parts in a separate accident.

Demi Murphy, of Marston Green, found that her Toyota Aygo had been targeted outside the hospital after returning in June.
The 24-year-old, who qualified as a registered staff nurse four months ago, said the thieves broke the driver’s window, allowing them access to open the hood.
The entire front of the car including the bodywork, headlights, engine parts and license plate has been removed.
She too has been left without transportation to and from work to help her patients amid the pandemic.
