Newfoundland and Labrador have a new confirmed case of COVID-19. This is a man in his fifties in the eastern health region.
Public health says the man recently returned to the province from work in British Columbia. The man is isolating himself and the search for contacts is in progress.
As a result, officials are asking passengers aboard Air Canada Flight 8996 from Halifax to St. John’s on Thursday, November 19 to call 811 and arrange for testing.
Even if the test result is negative, public health requires all passengers to continue monitoring their symptoms for 14 days after their arrival.
Starting today, all essential trips to Newfoundland and Labrador require the completion of a new travel form which can be submitted online up to 30 days prior to travel. All travelers are required to complete the form, which can be found at this link.
The province’s travel ban remains in effect.
There are 33 active cases in Newfoundland and Labrador. Four new recoveries since yesterday have brought the provincial total to 302 recoveries. No one is currently in hospital due to the virus.
62,841 people have been tested so far.
