In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu expressed his hope for a prosperous future for Israel and its Arab neighbors.
The Israeli prime minister said the deal with the UAE is the first of its kind with a Gulf country and is good for peace, security and prosperity.
Netanyahu noted that Israel and the United Arab Emirates “are two of the most advanced economies in the world and two of the most moderate countries share the common goal of opposing Iran and terrorism”.
On Israel’s relations with Arab countries in the future, Netanyahu said: “Arab countries have their own interests in developing peace with Israel, exchanging technology and exchanging things like developing a coronavirus vaccine.”
The Israeli prime minister said that “relying on the Palestinians to make peace first will not get anyone anywhere”.
Netanyahu said: “Look, if you give the Palestinians the right to veto the peace between Israel and the Arab world, we won’t get peace with the Arab world because they reject any kind of realistic agreement.”
The Israeli prime minister praised US President Donald Trump’s peace plan with the Palestinians, describing it as “the only realistic proposal that has appeared in decades.”
On Thursday, a joint statement by the UAE, the United States and Israel announced the agreement to stop Israel’s annexation of the Palestinian territories, while initiating bilateral relations between Israel and the UAE.
The treaty was welcomed by Arabs and internationally, and dozens of international NGOs welcomed the peace treaty between the UAE and Israel and saw it as an encouraging start to peace and an end to the state of conflict.
The declaration of the tripartite agreement stated that “this diplomatic achievement strengthens peace in the Middle East region”, underlining that “the establishment of direct relations will lead to the progress of the region by stimulating economic growth and strengthening relations between peoples”.
There are frequent international and Arab reactions that welcome the peace treaty between Israel and the UAE.
