To join the conference call, media should contact Stephanie Schierholz at 202-358-4997 or [email protected] by 11:00 on Thursday 3 December, for information on calling.
Next-generation lunar science and technology is a key goal to return to the moon under the Artemis program and prepare for Mars. The ability to extract and use space resources is critical to supporting a sustainable human presence on the lunar surface. The companies selected for space resource contracts will collect a small amount of lunar regolith from any location on the lunar surface and provide images to NASA of the collected material, along with data identifying the collection location. After NASA receives the information, the company will make an on-site transfer of ownership of the lunar regolith to the agency, completing the business transaction.
