It’s hard to believe that a tire blowout could send an almost new car to old beasts. But the insurance company has decided that this is best for everyone. The culprit in this case is a truck tire, which exploded in the street on a road in Russia, just as the Mercedes SUV drove to its left in the side lane.

Although there was no contact between the truck and the Mercedes-Benz SUV, the curtain airbags on the right side and the front passenger airbag were deployed. This was due to the loud blast of the explosion, which also shattered the glass and mirror on the right side of the car. The fragments shattered the activated airbags and caused deep scratches on the dashboard. In addition, the panoramic roof of the car was torn off.

The insurance company chose to declare the car’s total damage as a result of this accident, because the repairs exceed its current market value.

Will this Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe really age?

However, there is little chance this Mercedes will reach the scrap metal. The front, left and back are intact. Resetting the airbag system, a new mirror, replacing the panoramic roof and windows on the right and the car can look like new.

The Russians are famous for repairing wrecked cars, using different units and putting them back into circulation. The best known of these is Arthur Tussik, a Russian specializing in such repairs, who has a workshop in Lithuania.

Tussik repairs any vehicle that reaches his service. Cars are delivered for repair, including from the UAE and the United States. However, experts warn: “Such practices are absolutely criminal!”
