Mercadona opens 10 more supermarkets in 2021. And it’s recruiting. It has 240 vacancies

Mercadona has opened the recruiting process for four of the ten supermarkets the retail chain plans to open in the next. For these four new stores alone, in the Northern region, the chain has 240 vacancies available. Porto, Guimarães, Santa Maria da Feira and Vila Nova de Famalicão are the places of the now known super.

Interested parties can submit their applications online, allowing them to submit their resume.

Since the opening of the first store on 2 July in Canidelo (Vila Nova de Gaia), the retail food chain has opened stores in the Northern region. So far there are already 16 supermarkets in the Spanish chain, with the opening of 17 in Paços de Ferreira postponed to November 5, given the evolution of the pandemic. By the end of the year, it plans to open three more in Porto – Campanhã, Águeda and, for the first time, in Viana do Castelo, bringing the number of spaces in Portugal, its first internationalization market, to 20.

Currently, the company has around 900 employees in Portugal, collaborates with over 300 Portuguese suppliers, from which the company has acquired the most diverse products, for an amount equal to 217 million euros, in 2019 alone. Of this amount, 126 million euros correspond to commercial suppliers.

In the first six months of activity, with 10 stores, Mercadona achieved a total turnover of over 32 million euros, having paid 11 million euros in taxes through its Portuguese company, Irmãdona Supermercados SA Since 2016, when it announced its entry into the country, the chain has invested over 220 million by the end of last year.
