From disinfectants to social distances to lockdowns, most governments and health officials around the world have promoted various methods to stem the current Covid-19 pandemic. Some more than others.

But one of the most important measures has been the widespread use of face masks, an easy-to-implement measure that has faced incredible setbacks around the world, especially in the United States.

Study after study has shown its effectiveness in reducing the spread of the coronavirus, which loves to hitchhike on our respiratory droplets, expelled during conversation and coughing. Larger droplets with viral particles settle on surfaces, while smaller droplets travel farther, evaporate and can remain suspended in the air.
