The operation that has been talked about for years in the local communications market is close to being finalized to become a reality: Romtelecom, the fixed services division of the Telekom Romania group, will be taken over by Orange Romania, a move that will strengthen its position. The transaction would be officially announced tomorrow morning, according to ZF data.
Eventually, it was decided that the mobile phone division would remain in the Germans’ portfolio, and would continue to operate alone in the market, without being the subject of this transaction.
The interim CEO of Telekom Fix, the former Romtelecom, will be appointed Vladan Pekovic, who currently holds the position of director of technology within Telekom Romania, according to ZF sources.
