Market research firms have begun to reveal how the new phones fared Apple as sales lately. We find out iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best seller of the series and the iPhone 12 would have enjoyed a positive reception. The iPhone 12 Mini sparked minimal interest.
We find that in the first weeks of availability, iPhone 12 series phones have sold much better than their predecessors launched in the last 3 years. Flurry Analytics is the source of this information, a resource used by over 1 million mobile applications. It provides data on 2 billion mobile devices per month and is a useful tool for finding out how many iPhone 12 models have been activated lately. iPhone 12 and 12 Pro debuted in mid-October and iPhone 12 Pro Max and 12 Mini in mid-November.
From October to today, all iPhone 12 models have achieved the “base install” rate of 1.9% (the percentage of total iPhones registered by Flurry), a leap from the iPhone 11 series, which had the 1 ,2%. iPhone XS and XR had 1.6% in their time. The best-selling model would be the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which it represents 0.94% of all Apple phones on Earth registered by Flurry in the first week of availability. No other phone in Apple’s history has performed so well. Only the iPhone XS Max came close, with 0.76%.
iPhone 12 Mini on the other hand is the one with the fewest activations in the new quartet, only 0.12% of the iPhone install base in the first week. It seems that the large diagonal is more trendy now than the small one. However, the most used phone remains the iPhone 11, with a share of 14.9% between 13 November and 19 November 2020 in the USA.
iPhone XR is in 2nd place. iPhone 11 was also a worldwide bestseller among smartphones in the first half of this year.
