The Lebanese president Michel Aoun paid tribute to all the leaders and officials of the Arab countries who attended the Arab Economic Development Summit, which began its work in the Lebanese capital Beirut.

He said that this summit comes at a time when our Arab region faces many economic challenges and we hope that our efforts at this summit will be beneficial for our Arab country and that this is a step towards progress and prosperity of the Arab world.

In his speech to the Arab delegations at the summit, Michel said: "Our Arab region has been hit by an earthquake of various wars, some of which were directly in the middle of it, with heavy economic, social and security losses, and we are not here to discuss the causes, causes and instigators of wars, its devastating consequences on the economy and on growth, especially when these wars and crises have brought us back.

He concluded: "Internal wars and the spread of terrorism and extremism have caused waves of displacement and shelter, which the world has not known since the Second World War, and have negatively affected the economy of the region, especially countries suffering mainly from social and economic problems, attempts to awaken and will continue to fall for many years, which will impede the implementation of any economic and social program to achieve the goals of sustainable development and make them late compared to the rest of the world.
