CP aims to increase Christmas cheer and food donations, with the December 12 event featuring Serena Ryder, The Trews
THUNDER BAY – The CP Holiday Train, normally a seasonal highlight for hundreds of families at the Thunder Bay stop, will continue to bring cheer and collect donations with a virtual concert this year.
The “Holiday Train at Home” event will be streamed live on Canadian Pacific Railway’s Facebook page on December 12, the company announced on Friday.
The concert will feature established Canadian artists Serena Ryder and The Trews, as well as Jojo Mason, Logan Staats and Kelly Prescott.
The company also announced that it will continue its traditional donation to food banks in communities where trains normally stop, kicking $ 1.24 million in total to more than 200 food banks in communities on both sides of the border.
It also aims to continue to inspire donations from the public, who are normally encouraged to contribute non-perishable food at stops. Viewers seeking to donate will be directed to Food Banks Canada, which supports food aid organizations across the country.
“In a year filled with challenges and losses, we will be hosting this concert as a call to action for train supporters to donate generously if they can this Christmas season,” said Keith Creel, CP president and CEO. “The spirit of the holiday train will come to life even if the train itself fails due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The concert is scheduled for 8 pm Eastern Time on December 12 and can be streamed on CP’s Facebook page.
An archived version of the show will also remain on the page for later viewing.
