Grupo Éxito released its third quarter financial results in which they revealed that sales amounted to $ 3.5 billion, presenting an increase of 2.40%, compared to the same period last year when they reached $ 3.43 billion .
The Group’s net profit reached $ 51,814 million, while in the same period of 2019 it was $ 11,033 million, which means a growth of 4.7 times, or 369.60%.
Carlos Mario Giraldo Moreno, president of Grupo Éxito, said the results “showed that omnichannel strategy and innovation are big differences in addressing market conditions”.
In addition, he stressed the role of e-commerce in the company’s performance, since “in Colombia today it represents 18.2% of total sales, against 14.7% in the second quarter of 2020 and 4.4% in the third quarter of 2019.
The good results also benefited from sales in Uruguay, which grew by 11.3%, driven by the trend in the fresh market model and electronic commerce channels.
Grupo Éxito closed the third quarter with 630 stores, of which 515 in Colombia, 90 in Uruguay and 25 in Argentina. The consolidated sales area of the company has reached more than one million square meters.
In this quarter, seven stores were converted to differentiated and innovative formats. In Colombia there were two Éxito wow, two Surtimayorista and one Éxito express; a fresh market was held in Uruguay and Argentina.
Grupo Éxito’s operation in Colombia during the third quarter recorded sales of $ 2.67 billion and, accumulated as of September 30, the figure amounted to $ 8.31 billion, up 4.9%. Domestic business represented 76% of the Group’s total consolidated turnover in the region during this period.
