This method will be a complete bypass of the App Store and the rules imposed here by Apple by launching these services as web applications, which can be accessed, along with the games offered, from the web browser.
GeForce Now, Nvidia’s gaming service with over 5 million registered users, is already available in beta format on iOS and iPadOS as a web application. It can be accessed in Safari.
It is interesting to note that in this way Fortnite will be available again on the iPhone and iPad, despite the war between Apple and Epic Games, which led to the exclusion of the game from the App Store. Fortnite can be played via GeForce Now in Safari, without having to follow Apple’s rules, which apply to the App Store.
Immediately after launching GeForce Now in beta, Google announced that it will do the same with its own game streaming service, Stadia. And it will be available in the coming weeks via Safari.
Coincidentally or not, Google’s announcement came on the same day Stadia celebrates its first anniversary.
The first company to announce that it would launch its streaming service as a web application was Microsoft. However, Stage and GeForce Now will be available before xCloud.
