Kolkata, 10 December (UNI) Kolkata will host the global Blockchain Congress on 18 and 19 December at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center in New Town, which will be organized by the Information Technology and Electronics (IT & E) department.
Experts from around the world will speak at the event.
The goal of the event is to build a holistic ecosystem on blockchain technology in Bengal through knowledge sharing, workshops, awareness generation and providing a single platform for all stakeholders – industry, university , startups, companies, governments and investors – to understand, collaborate and explore the potential of blockchain technology.
Blockchain is considered by experts as the biggest disruptive technology after the Internet.
Among the financial institutions, almost 50 percent of the banks should use this technology by 2020 and a huge transformation is expected in the non-financial sector as well.
As a result, blockchain technology is expected to create a significant impact on the labor market.
The state government is trying to make Bengal a center for emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), embedded technology, cyber security, etc.
To this end, the government has regularly hosted seminars on knowledge and the organization of the Blockchain Congress is part of this effort.
