(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Tae-soo Lee = As travel demand plummeted due to the prolonged period of new coronavirus infection (Corona 19), Hana Tour, the # 1 travel industry, has decided to extend the unpaid leave for four months.

According to the travel industry on the 15th, Hana Tour announced on the 13th that it will extend unpaid leave for all employees for four months from next month to March next year.

A Hana Tour official said: “Of the 2,300 employees, we are already taking unpaid leave except the required 300. As the government subsidy to maintain employment ends this month, we have decided to extend the unpaid leave.” She said.

Hana Tour went on paid leave this past March-May when sales dropped sharply in the aftermath of Corona 19 and has taken unpaid leave since June excluding essential staff.

Until this month, the government subsidy for maintaining employment allows employees to receive 50% of their base salary, but from next month they will not be able to receive any salary.

In the third quarter of this year, Hana Tour’s number of outbound (overseas travel) passengers decreased 99.9% compared to the same period last year and an operating loss of 30.24 billion won on base consolidated has increased, making management difficult.
