Shoppers outside the Foot Locker Power Store on Robson Street said they were concerned about what appeared to be groups of friends waiting for the launch together.
Jazmine Khan told CTV News that she believed there were groups with “multiple friends from multiple different families from multiple different cities” queuing together and wondered why no one seemed to enforce the temporary public health order that rules out that. type of behavior.
“Nobody here goes socially, nobody here really wears their masks for the most part,” Khan said.
“They can meet in public, stand within a foot of each other and talk and gossip and possibly spread a disease.”
Khan was one of the many people waiting to get their hands on the new Ivy Park line from Beyoncé, including some who waited outside overnight.
“I’m just trying to stay as far away as possible, take care of my own business and stay away from everyone else,” he said.
Foot Locker’s Western Canadian Sales Director told CTV News that the store had security guards on duty overnight and throughout the day reminding people to physically remain at a distance.
“I would say, at times, yes, the line looked a little above the other, but I felt we did a good job of getting it,” said Nicholas Keeling.
Vancouver is one of several cities that has been subjected to a strict social blockade since November 7 that prevents people from socializing in person with anyone outside their “central bubble,” which for most residents means people from their own family. .
