NASA develops the Artemis Space Launch System and will provide the return of a human to the moon in 2024, as reported by the Voice of America.
Artemis’ first flight is scheduled for 2021; however, it will not be piloted. According to the plan, in three years, people will fly to Earth’s satellite, for the first time in nearly 40 years.
Furthermore, in 2026, another long-term project is expected to start, to prepare the launch of the project on the construction of the nuclear power plant on the surface of the Moon. First, the construction will be a triad on Earth; it would later be transferred to the satellite to produce energy to support the research station’s work. NASA and the US Department of Energy have already announced the competition to search for developers who would implement the project.
As we reported, following a successful launch on the first NASA-certified commercial human spacecraft system in history, an international crew of astronauts (NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission) is en route to the International Space Station.
On November 13, 2020, the Ukrainian State Space Agency signed the NASA Artemis Agreement on the principles of cooperation in civil exploration and the use of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids for peaceful purposes.
