One mom had to be resuscitated four times after an explosion left her with half her face burned.

Adriana Lima, 39, suffered horrific face burns after her client forgot to clean using flammable products and lit the kitchen stove.

With 63 percent of her body covered in third-degree burns, including her hands, face, legs and arms, she spent the next 24 days in a coma in ICU.

The entrepreneur, from Joinville, in southeastern Brazil, was working with her husband David Lima, 37, when the disaster struck in July 2017.

The couple have a cleaning and waterproofing business and used a flammable product needed to waterproof the sofas.

But their client forgot that this was the case and lit the gas stove in the apartment they were working in, setting the building on fire.

David suffered noticeably from only minor burns while Adriana took full force from the explosion.

Adrenaline-pumped, she initially thought she had emerged from the accident relatively unscathed, even helping the apartment owner escape the smoke-filled wreck.

But a few minutes later, Mom began to feel intense pain throughout her body and suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest in which both her heart and lungs began to close.

Speaking after the horror incident, Adriana said: “At that moment, I thought only my hands were burned, but it was actually a lot worse than I imagined.

“The firemen who arrived first saw that my case was serious, but at that moment I was only thinking about my children because they were in the parking lot of the apartment we were working in. I had to make sure they were safe.

“The pain quickly got worse and according to the fire department, a few minutes later I went into cardiopulmonary arrest and was fighting for my life.

“I was revived for over two hours. I had breathed in a lot of smoke and sixty-three percent of my body was burned.”

Desperately fighting for her life, Adriana had to be resurrected three times on the scene.

Paramedics took Mom to the hospital via an emergency ambulance where she had another pulmonary arrest and was resuscitated for the fourth time.

In intensive care, Adriana’s heart swelled, her lungs filled with fluid, her kidneys nearly closed, and doctors said her chances of survival were incredibly low.

Adriana still finds room for a smile despite her horrific injuries

Although most of her body is covered in scars, the brave mom is happy

After 24 days of unconsciousness, Adriana woke up. But she was confused as to why she was in the hospital, convinced that it was only a day since her accident.

She said: “Somehow I managed to make it. When I woke up I thought it was the day after the accident and I was shocked to hear that I had been unconscious for so long.

“I couldn’t walk, eat or drink and spoke in a low voice due to intubation but my willpower to go home and see my kids was so great that after just fifteen days in the hospital, they discharged me.”

Adriana admits that she fell into a deep spiral of depression, worried if her husband would stay close to her and if her children would want to be seen with her.

She even contemplated suicide, but after returning home thanks to the overwhelming love and support of her husband and two children, ages 15 and five, she quickly realized her worries were unfounded.

Adriana said: “I saw burns all over my body and I no longer accepted myself as a woman. I was ashamed of myself. I was afraid that my husband did not want me and that my children were ashamed of me.

“I had to go through a long emotional process of acceptance. Due to the accident, I went into a deep depression and just wanted to be locked up in a dark room.

“At one point I even thought about suicide, but thank God I got up quickly and got out of the depression.

“I changed the way I saw life. I learned to love and accept myself and today I am truly happy. My trademark is always being happy and smiling and today I have reason to smile again.”

Adriana is now having skin grafts on her hands to increase her movements and reduce the chronic pain she now suffers from.

But with a family that loves her regardless of her appearance, she has no plans for plastic surgery in the future.

Since her accident, the brave mom has created an Instagram page detailing her recovery journey to show others that it is possible to live a happy and fulfilled life despite her altered appearance.

She added: “Today, sixty-three percent of my body is scarred, but I am happy. My husband and children love me and that’s all I need.

“I want to show that you don’t need to cover your imperfections with makeup. You are as beautiful as you are.”
